Broken Vows, Buried Secrets: Part One
"Babe, I'm home!" I could hear his footsteps coming up the stairs, and all I could do was jump up in panic. I was lying in my bed, naked next to her. She looked so beautiful and peaceful that I didn’t want to wake her. I loved this girl—and I loved my husband too—but they hated each other. Because of that, I couldn’t get caught.
I pulled her arm, nearly dragging her off the bed, whispering, "He’s coming." She jumped up, and we both got dressed, switched the TV on, and started laughing. We had no idea why we were laughing; we just had to play it off—or we were both going down.
When my husband finally opened the door, his smile immediately dropped, and I knew he was not happy to see Serena.
"Hi, baby," I said, jumping up to give him a kiss.
"What is she doing here?" he whispered in my ear. I slapped his arm, smiled, and went back to sitting on the bed next to her.
"Well, I can tell when I’m not wanted, so I’m gonna go." Before I could stop her, she was out the door.
My husband had to go back to work and was only home to pick up a few of his papers. He owned an architecture firm and spent long hours at the office.
"Babe, you can leave my plate in the oven tonight. I’ll be home late," he said, turning on his heels with papers in hand.
"How late? I hate it when you work late," I frowned, trailing behind him. Although I was cheating on my husband with my best friend, I hated when he wasn’t home.
"Late, but not too late. I promise," he said, kissing my forehead before leaving.
Byron hadn’t realized he left his phone at home; he always calls me on his way home. I threw on some clothes and headed to his office. The office was dark, except for the few lights coming from his office.
As I stepped closer to the door, I heard two familiar voices—but they weren’t talking. It was the moans I recognized. When I opened the door just to peek, my mouth dropped, and the phone slipped from my hand, making both of them stop and turn to look at me.
"Babe, let me explain. It’s not what it looks like," he started.
I shook my head in disbelief as I realized what had just happened… my best friend was screwing my husband.
